MY FAVORITE RED VELVET CAKE
1/2 lb. butter
1 1/2 C. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 teas. baking soda
2 T. cocoa
2 oz. red food coloring  1 teas. vanilla
1 teas. salt
1 C. buttermilk
2 C. flour and
1 1/2 T. vinegar

Make a paste with cocoa and coloring. Add to the creamed mixture of butter sugar and eggs. Then mix salt and vanilla to the buttermilk. Alternate flour with milk till all added. Last stir baking soda to vinegar and fold into mixture Pour into greased and floured 9 inch pans and bake at 350* for 30 or 40 minutes, test for doneness!
                                   German White cake
2C. sugar
1/4 C. butter
1/2 C. crisco
2 1/2 C. flour
2 teas. baking powder
1/2 C. milk
5 eggs


Mix like a pie dough first 5 ingredients then add the eggs and milk. Beat together for about 10 minutes. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 15 minutes at 350* reduce heat to 325* and finish baking for 40 minutes test!!
 
                             Icing for $50 fudge cake

1 stick of butter
2 packs choc. pudding [ regular not instant ] [3 1/2 oz.]
2 C. evaporated milk
1 teas. vanilla
2 C. 10x sugar.
Melt butter in sauce pan, add pudding and milk, bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil 1 min. remove from heat and cool. Add 10x sugar and vanilla and spread on cooled cake.
                                   WHITE CAKE

1 box white cake mix
4 egg whites
1/3 C. oil
1/2 pack dream whip
1 C. water
1 box instant vanilla pudding
1 C. sour cream
Mix all ingredients for about 3 min. Line pans with wax paper or parchment. Bake at 350* for 25 to 30 min in 9 inch pans. Recipe can be doubled.
                                 Buttercream Icing


2 C. crisco
2 lbs. 10x sugar
1 pk. dream whip
3 T. white karo
2 teas. vanilla or cream bouquet
1/2 C water
Beat well if to stiff add more water by drops. To make this same recipe for off white coloring substitute crisco for butter and add a drop of brown food coloring.
                             Best Boiled Icing


Boil:3 C. reg. sugar and 3/4 C. water to soft ball stage [234] in a sauce pan.
Using a wire whip beat 1 C. water with 6 T. meringue powder at high speed till fluffy. reduce speed to medium and pour boiling syrup in a stream to meringue.
Then add: 6 marshmallows and 1 teas. vanilla continue to beat till stiff { about 6 min. ]
This icing can be cut in half . It can also be rebeaten if kept in an air tight plastic container. It's the best for string work I have found
                             Moist Chocolate Cake


2-cups sugar
2 eggs
1 Cup butter
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa
2 teas. baking soda
1 teas. salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 teas. vanilla
1 cup boiling water
Cream sugar, eggs and butter well. Sift flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt Mix everything together except water, when all is blended slowly add 1 cup of boiling water. Pour into greased and floured 9" pans. and then bake at 350* for about 30 minutes. Test for doneness.
                               Mocha Chocolate Cake

2 cups flour
1 teas. salt
1 teas. baking soda
3/4 cup cocoa 2 cups sugar
1 cup oil [crisco]
1 cup hot strong coffee
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1 teas. vanilla
Sift dry ingredients, add oil, coffee, milk, and eggs. Mix 2 minutes, then add vanilla and beat 2 more min. Pour into 2 9" pans , greased and floured, and bake 325* for about 28 mins. { batter will be runny}
                                       Rum Cake

1 box Butter cake mix
1 box instant vanilla pudding
1/2 cup light rum
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup oil
4 eggs
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Place all ingredients except nuts into a bowl and beat till blended. Add nuts and pour into a greased and floured tube pan and bake at 325* for 1 hour.

                                     Glaze for Rum cake:
1/2 cup 10x sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/8 cup rum
1/8 cup water
Bring to a boil for 3 minutes, then let stand for 15 minutes. Pour over hot cake that's been pricked with a fork.
                                   Crisco Icing

1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons flour
Shake together in a tightly covered bowl till blended. Then cook, stirring constantly till it forms into a thick paste.
1/2 cup crisco
1/2 cup sugar
Cream these 2 ingredients till fluffy. When flour mixture cools beat in with crisco mixture till smooth.

2 eggs separated [beat whites into soft peaks and put aside]
1/4 lb. butter
2 C. sugar
1 1/2 C. milk
2 C. flour
2 teas. baking powder
1/2 teas. salt
4 squares choc. [ melted]
2 teas. vanilla and
1 C. chopped nuts optional
Cream egg yolks and butter, add sugar gradually till blended. Add part of the milk then flour, baking powder, salt, add melted choc. and remaining milk, blend in vanilla and nuts. Fold in beaten egg whites, and pour into prepared pans. Bake at 350* for 40 minutes
